Becoming a God, Starting as water monkey

People knelt in prayer and offered up sacrifices on the riverbank.
“We beseech the great Water God for protection…”
But just then, from beneath the water came the voice of a young boy:
“Damn it, could you stop sacrificing maidens to me already? I’m really not the Water God!”
