Oh so he ate him because he was injured and wanted to stop his suffering or because he didn’t have food anymore? I hope it’s one of the two

The villagers discovered that Giovanni was friends with the mermaids, so they locked Iseul and Giovanni up together. I don’t remember everything clearly, but I guess Giovanni was injured and was about to die anyway, while Iseul was starving, so Giovanni told Iseul to eat him.
He really had no choice; otherwise, they would both die. And the most disgusting thing is that the villagers, whom Giovanni had helped so much, were just watching and saying things like, “Well deserved.” “See how mermaids are evil?”
So after that, Iseul managed to escape and told everything to his sister. Together, they not only destroyed the village but the entire world as well (the underwater world that Jio painted).
Now they hate humans more than anything.
